Dixon Turns 18

We're celebrating tonight, but it actually happened yesterday: our youngest, now off at VCU studying theater, reached majority at long last. As of today, Kelly and I are officially off the hook; anything our offspring do from here on out is legally their problem. But it's a bittersweet moment, as the nest is now empty and the boys are flying on their own. Dixon's talent is enormous and his horizons are broad, and I'm happy to see him taking wing. And part of me will always want to call him Thing Two. But he's earned the right to be known by his own name here.

I'm very proud of him.
